PRAYER | A MARRIAGE PRAYER FOR MY HUSBAND
Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. Thank You, Father that you love me and want to heal me. I am first and foremost Your daughter. Before I was ________ wife, I was Yours. I belong to You as much as I love _________ and have fought for his love and attention, I love You more.
Today, I lay down all pride ~ pride that thinks I have to be right in this marriage ~ that demands my needs be met. If my heart has become hardened that I can no longer let love flow unconditionally without expectations, then I am filled with pride. I have said I cannot live without love; I cannot live without touch and intimacy. Yet, I remember that You lived with scorn; You lived with betrayal and those wishing to take Your life. All I have experienced in my life ~ loneliness and loss ~ rejection and pain… You have experienced them all.
Father, I miss the arms of my husband; I miss his love and tenderness. It’s been missing for years. I ask that you would rekindle the love and passion we once shared. I have sought for years to win ___________ heart, only to feel him move further away. My arms reach to console, his have stopped reaching. I have become bitter with his rejection, yet still my heart yearns for him. I know that my words have not always been sweet to hear, and my tone has sometimes held condemnation and pride. I have at times pointed the finger at __________, when it should have been pointed at me, and I recognize that he no longer hears me when I speak. I have held unforgiveness toward my husband, and at the root – I have not been able to let it go. Please change my heart to conform to Yours. I can no longer do this without You healing my brokenness. Please forgive me. Heal us. Heal me.
Father, I cannot change my husband, only you can. He was yours before he was mine. So today…. I open the door to my heart, (literally open the door and remove ___________) Jesus, I hold him up to You. Please hold him; please heal him; please help me to see ________ through Your eyes, and help me to love him with no conditions or strings attached.
Love is a decision, respect is a choice…. and as of today, I choose to love my husband, and respect him, not based on his performance, but because I am his wife. If You will help me, Father, I will honor ___________ because it pleases You and he is Your son. I thank You that __________ actions are motivated by his love for Jesus Christ and me. He is my friend, my husband, & my lover. Join my heart to his. Join my body to his. Join our lives back together as one and restore our marriage.
In Jesus name I ask…
